As many a Lewis Hamilton fan knows, the late, great, Ayrton Senna is the young drivers ultimate hero, and he now has a special helmet showing his appreciation for the now deceased F1 ace.

Hamilton, 27, who has been heavily inspired by the deceased Brazilian, says he has a special helmet for the race this weekend, featuring the Ayrton Senna design.

My regular design is at the front and Ayrton’s at the rear. I’m using the green line that Ayrton had on his helmet. No one has ever done that before.

It has been said the British racing driver is like Senna in almost every way. And for the Brazilian Grant Prix, Hamilton will be able to show his respect for Senna.

Unfortunately for Hamilton, he can’t copy the helmet in every detail. Bruno Senna, nephew of the triple champion, is using the design for himself.

Hamilton instead has permission from Viviane Senna, the champions sister, to incorporate the design and the logo into his helmet instead.

So I decided to combine the two. I asked Viviane Senna for permission to utilise both design and logo. To do the green lines meant putting together a special order, so I hope to have a lot more green helmets!

    Raising money for Senna foundation

The racing driver is hoping to raise money for the Ayrton Senna Foundation, an organisation formed in 1994 with the purpose of creating opportunities for development for young Brazilians.

It’s a real honour to wear this helmet, and we can hopefully raise some money for the Senna Foundation.

Undoubtedly he has invested his time making sure he perfects the Senna look for Interlagos. The money raised will do some good in the world, while raising his own profile.

Hamilton’s says his new helmet will be auctioned after the race with the proceeds going to the Senna foundation. He revealed he will “wear it proudly”, to honour the champion who Hamilton claims was “one of the most significant people in my life growing up”.
